Praised by the Rheinische Post as a musician of “sparkling vitality and virtuosity” violinist Katerina Chatzinikolau captivates audiences with her unique arrangements and interpretations of classical musical works.

Her performances push the boundaries of conventional concert formats and mark her work as an indefatigable explorer with a great desire to offer her audiences new approaches and ultimately broaden their own understanding of music.

Collaborations with film art, design and architecture are an important aspect of her artistic activities. In her latest video project “Ode to Joy” by Beethoven she presents her work as a violinist and arranger on her YouTube channel.

Katerina is a first prize winner of the 2020 Golden Classical Music Awards, the eMuse International Music Competition (2017) and the Panhellenic Competition “Young Soloist” a.o.

As a soloist, Katerina has performed in prestigious concert halls such as Philharmonie Koln, Carnegie Hall, Tonhalle Dusseldorf, rbb-Rundfunksaal Berlin, Royal Theater Thessaloniki, Beethovenhalle Bonn, Laeiszhalle Hamburg and Liederhalle Stuttgart. She has performed with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra a.o.

In July 2022 Katerina will play her debut with German conductor Christoph Eschenbach with the Underground Youth Orchestra at the “International Kalamata Music Days” in Greece.

Katerina received further musical inspiration at international master classes with Leonidas Kavakos, Pavel Vernikov, Andres Cardenes, Mauricio Fuks, Ida Kavafan, Barnabas Kelemen, Mihaela Martin, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Evgueni Sinaiski at the Kronberg Academy a.o.

From 2021 to 2022 she has been 3rd concertmaster position with the Duisburg Philharmonic.

Katerina studied in Pre-College at the Robert Schumann Musikhochschule Dusseldorf with Alexander Kramarov and is a Master’s graduate of the HfMT Koln, where she studied “Violin Solo” with Ariadne Daskalakis and Musicology with a focus on “Artistic Development and Reflection”.

In 2020 she received a scholarship provided by Tarisio Auctions. In Germany, she was challenged by the Franz and Christel Kuhlmann Foundation and the Horst and Gretl Will Foundation. She was also a scholarship recipient of “Yehudi Menuhin – Live Music Now” and she was awarded the NRW Scholarship, the E.ON Scholarship Fund and a DAAD Scholarship.

San Diego-based Kita Beach is the latest project of Conor Meads (formerly of Pistolita), bringing nostalgic, genre-bending alternative rock to a new era. Bearing the sonic calling cards of pop punk and baroque pop (a la Queen and ABBA), Kita Beach defies convention and shirks definition. Leaning heavily on Meads’ skill as a pianist, Kita Beach crafts compositions that are unexpected, theatrical, and versatile. The band’s debut album, Swim Classic, was released in 2021 and features ten piano- and guitar-driven tracks carried by Meads’ bellicose vocals and tight instrumentation. Mixed by Grammy-award winner Jesse Ray Ernster and featuring guest vocals from rising star Elise Trouw, Swim Classic is a punchy, intricate, and unpredictable reflection on the process of restarting a life after heartbreak and transition. Prior to forming Kita Beach, Meads toured extensively as the vocalist and pianist for Pistolita.
